Spaced XY

Another method of recording the same performance is by using the spaced xy technique. This involves the same equipment as in the XY pair but they are separated by 3 inches or so. If you wanted to create an additional sense of space to the recording of the performance, this method can be used. If the end result is to produce something in a high quality in mono channels, then this technique would be appropriate. However phase cancellations would create a comb filter affect and colour the sound too much for it to be accurately produced in stereo.
